Obituary

Tony Wartnaby of Lucknow passed away at Wingham Hospital on August 11, 2023 at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Diane for 38 years.
Missed by his daughter Dianna Wartnaby and granddaughter Samantha Wartnaby both of Missisauga.

Tony was born in Rotherham, England to his late parents Gertie & Sidney Wartnaby. After immigrating to Toronto, Tony worked for Bell Canada for 31 years. During his time there he met Diane and they married. When it came time to retire in 1990 they both wanted to leave the city. Tony made many trips all around Ontario searching for just the right spot. He found the perfect place with lots of trees to please Diane in Lucknow. During his time in Lucknow he made an impact as a long-time Legion member where he volunteered countless hours, doing maintenance, helping with the Seniors Dining program for 24 years and washing loads of dishes!

Tony was a master of all trades and loved to keep busy.
His busy hands will be missed at the Legion and around Lucknow.

Tony has been a friend, a best friend, laughing in the morning, when we would meet for coffee or when days where needed to fix up the lawn mower. His phone calls to the house will be and are missed, it was unusual not to hear from him almost daily. Hearing his English accent on the phone, reminded me of home, as I grew up with very English relatives. Greg and him shared stories in there many visits together, Thanks Dianne for letting me share his final days
