Marjorie MacTavish, beloved wife of the late James “Jim” MacTavish, passed away peacefully at the Kincardine Hospital with family by her side on Friday January 19, 2024 at the age of 82. She was born in Kincardine on January 28, 1941, daughter of the late Verna (Hicks) and Samuel Stanley. Greatly missed by son Jeff (Valerie) MacTavish and daughter Michele (Bob) Hunter, grandchildren Shannon (Martin), Erin (Carl), Lauren (Andrew), Nicole (Liam) and James, and great grandsons Ian and Andy. Also survived by sisters Shirley MacKinnon, Leona Setley and Helen (Clarke) Pollock, sister-in-law Evylene MacTavish, brothers-in-law Eugene Walden and Claire Thuell, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son James David MacTavish and siblings John Stanley, Alma Dunk, Georgina Moore, Earl Stanley, Eric Stanley, June MacLean, Betty Stanley and Gloria Ritchie.
Marj and Jim married in 1959 and moved to the family farm on Concession 2 Huron Township, where they started their family and work life. Marj worked briefly as a waitress at the Bruce Inn in the early 70’s, then as a bank teller for the Bank of Montreal in Kincardine, then went to Ripley and worked at the Royal Bank in 1974 until she retired in 1997. Marj and Jim moved to Nelson St. in Kincardine from the farm and settled there in their retirement until 2022 when they sold the house and moved to a condo on Charles St. Marj enjoyed her retirement and had many wonderful memories with her 5 grandchildren. She and Jim enjoyed travelling to warm climates often and maintained a busy and active social life in Kincardine and Ripley. Marj loved to swim at the Davidson Centre for many years and enjoyed the company and friendship of many swimmers. She was also a devoted fan of the soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” and as she engaged her friends and family in this enjoyment, she made you realize that disturbing her, during this time slot, put you in peril.
Following Marjorie’s wishes, a graveside funeral service will take place at the Ripley Cemetery on Friday April 26, 2024 at 11:30 AM.

My condolences to Marj's family. I met Marj at the pool a number of years ago. It was a difficult time for me when I first went there & I really appreciated Marj's upbeat personality & comradery. When I no longer went to the pool I use to catch up with her at KIncardine Scottish events. It was always nice to see her friendly welcoming smile.

Condolences Michele, Bob & family. Cherish your memories!
Jeff, Val, Michelle, Bob and family - condolences on the loss of your mother. I always enjoyed having your family as our neighbours growing up. Your mother's warm hugs and big smiles will be missed and I will think fondly of her especially when I attend the Kincardine Pipe Parade in the summer. Thinking of all of you during this time of loss.
I wish to extend my sympathy to the family of Marjorie. I grew up in Ripley. My mother, Laura Herd, lived most of her life in Ripley or surrounding area. Marjorie was a faithful bank employee of The Royal Bank in Ripley. Taking care of my mother in her later years brought me to the bank many times. Marjorie was there to assist. Plus, my husband,
Dave Owen, knew Jim MacTavish during the years that we lived in the Kincardine area. My condolences to the family.
Freda Owen, London, Ontario.
To all of Marj's Family. Please accept our sincere condolences at this sad time. May all of your special memories help to ease your sorrow in the days ahead. Regards Brian and Wendy Pollock
Jeff, Michele and family,
I am so fortunate to have gotten to know Marj. She was always good for a visit and laugh throughout the years. May you find comfort knowing she is back in the arms of her beloved Jim. Rest in Peace dear Marj. ~Courtney

Our condolences at this time of sorrow. So glad we had such a nice visit in the summer with your mother at our house. She emailed me next day saying how much she enjoyed the visit with all the old Ripley Royal bank employees. We had such a great afternoon.

Our sincere condolences to Marj's family. Ann had the opportunity to work for a short while (when a student) at the Bank of Montreal, and we crossed paths from time to time when Marj and Jim lived on the farm, next door to sister-in-law, Evylene, who looked after our boys. She will be missed.
I am so very sorry to read this sad news. Marj and I worked together at the Ripley Royal Bank. I had a lot of fun working with her and chatting. She always had a story! My thoughts are with you all.
Dear Michelle, Jeff and all Marj's family and loved ones, John and I are so sorry to hear of Marj's passing. I so enjoyed spending time with her. We met while swimming at the Davidson Centre and were doing laps on the milers team. I never did catch up to her on the score board. She and Jim just lived up the street from us and we had so many good times together. Please accept our sincere condolences. Marj will be missed by so many.
