James "Jimmy" Platten, originally of Toronto, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 at Pinecrest Manor, Lucknow at the age of 90. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories cherished by family and friends. Born and raised in Toronto to the late Ila May Platten (née Woolsey) and Charles Platten, Jimmy was the 12th of 13 children in a large and loving family. Jim was the beloved and devoted husband of his wife, Doreen, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. He is survived by his sister, June Fairhead of Barrie, Ontario. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Throughout his entire working life, Jimmy was a dedicated employee at CFRB Radio Station,
where his commitment and loyalty were well known. After retiring, Jimmy and Doreen moved to Ripley, Ontario, where they enjoyed a happy and fulfilling retirement surrounded by the many kind and welcoming people of the community.
Jimmy had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and birds. He also enjoyed playing the
guitar and singing, sharing his music and warmth with those around him.
He will be greatly missed by his faithful little sidekick, Suzy, who will now continue to keep
loving watch over Doreen.

Sending our Deepest Sympathies Aunt Doreen. I will cherish the memories of an Uncle who was caring, funny and treated his nieces and nephews as his own. Always fun times growing up surrounded by music. Uncle Jimmy lived his guitar and to play and sing along with his Brothers. He took the time to teach me some tunes on the piano and always treated us well. I'm so grateful to have grown up with You Aunt Doreen and Uncle Jimmy in my life. R.I.P Uncle Jimmy until we meet again ❤️

Dear Doreen: My thoughts and prayers are with you. In the past ,on my walks around the village, often, Jimmy and the dog
were on the veranda when I passed your house. Often, you were there as well. Sincerely, Irene Liddle
