Obituary

Ralph Marshall
1948 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ralph Marshall, of Lucknow and formerly of Nile, at the age of 77. He was a devoted father, hardworking tradesman, and cherished member of his community.

Ralph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandra, and his son, Chris. He leaves behind his son, Stuart, and stepdaughter, Lorena, who will carry forward his memory with love and pride.
Ralph dedicated much of his life to his work as an electrician, spending over 20 years with JMR in Exeter, Ontario, where he was respected for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Caledon Ski Club as a compressor engineer, helping maintain the snowmaking systems that brought winter to life for so many.

Outside of his work, Ralph found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs, rarely missing a game. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time at bingo halls, bowling alleys, and local produce auctions. He also found meaningful connection and purpose helping within the Amish community, where his willingness to lend a hand and his practical skills were deeply appreciated.

Ralph will be remembered for his steady presence, his dedication to his family, and his quiet generosity toward others. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled.
A celebration of life will be held at the St. Helens Community Center on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of Ralph.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Helens Community Center in memory of Ralph.

I’d like everyone to know that Ralph was a great friend and mentor, (I was a teenager), when we first worked together at the Caledon Ski Club back the late 70’s As life would have it, we again worked for the same company, 25yrs later. Again, a quiet, fun, and trustful friend. Ralph was a good man. A term I do not use lightly. To his family, I am sorry for your loss, and proud you can carry your head so high, to say simply, ‘Ralph’ …was your loved one.

Ralph was a true friend. We always tried to make a point of seeing each other once a year but unfortunately it just didn’t work out last year. The thought was always there and when we connected by phone we could always pick up where we left off. We have a lot of great memories from our time working together at the Caledon Ski Club and we will remember them fondly. Our sincere condolences, Mike & Gayle Porter

So sad to hear the news of Ralph's passing. It's been a long time since I spent any real time with Ralph due to the directions our lives have taken us, that said I did spend a lot of time while growing up with him. We are close to the same age so during our many family events through the 50's and 60's we where best friends. His ability to make you laugh and to always have a positive prospective was amazing. One great memory of time spent with Ralph was when he and I traveled to Toronto for a week-end so he could find accomodation for his upcoming first year at Ryerson. He also had a car befor I did (red mustang) and he let me drive it.. Best guy and best cousin ever..

I first met Ralph in Grade One where we both attended ERIN Public School and we developed a lasting friendship which endured throughout our High School Years. At age fifteen Ralph and I along with four of our school friends Doug Cunningham, Peter Mitton, Gary Warren and Robert Harper formed a band called the Trade Winds and we spent endless hours together playing in that band and having lots of fun. During High School Ralph was a Sargent in Army Cadets, he was in the Drama Club, a member of Student Council, played trombone in the High School Band and played guitar with a vocal group called the Wanderers. After Graduation and throughout College Ralph and I remained in contact and eventually I moved to Nashville, Tennessee so the distance between us allowed our connection to not be as frequent but when I retired and returned to Ontario we resumed our friendship and picked up right where we had left off. Ralph was always a very loyal friend and was the type of person who would as they say give you the shirt off his back. He never wanted to inconvenience or bother anyone and if someone did something for Ralph he was very appreciative. Ralph loved a good joke and he loved to laugh and when our old friend Doug Cunningham, Ralph and I would get together Ralph would break out in laughter as we reminisced about our past experiences together. Ralph was a kind person and was always willing to help if he saw a need. When Ralph's son Stuart contacted me and informed me of Ralph's declining health Doug Cunningham and I immediately went to see Ralph and we are so thankful to Stuart for allowing us to visit with Ralph on what turned out to be his final day on this earth. That day as we went to leave Ralph's hospital bedside in typical Ralph fashion Ralph said "I appreciate you guys" and then Ralph gave us his Thumbs UP. That was the Ralph we had always known. I will never forget tha parting gesture. THE LIFE OF THE DECEASED LIVES IN THE MEMORY OF THE LIVING. I will alway cherish my memories of Ralph Marshall....RIP Ralph....Larry Gregson

We would like to send our condolences to all Raplh's Family and Friends. We grew up to gather in Erin, played together as kids and enjoyed scouting. Ralph's Mother taught me in grade 5. Ralph was one of the good ones. Interestingly, We lived in the Exeter area in the early 80's and knew the owner of JMR through the Lions Club. Our paths never crossed. Rest peacefully Ralph Our paths never crossed
