| Shirley E. MacDonald, beloved wife of D. Douglas MacDonald, of Ripley, passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Wednesday March 8, 2023 at the age of 77. She was born in Toronto on June 4, 1945 to the late Ilene (Starret) and Cy Lawton. Dear Mother of Andrew (Diane) MacDonald, Sheena (Bob) Houghten, Stefani (Mike) Simpson, Ian (Holly) MacDonald and Meagan (Fred) Labbate. Greatly missed by grandchildren James, Courtney, Alex, William, Alayna, Ethan, Airk, Lochlan and Piper. Also survived by brothers Garry (Donna) Lawton and Cy (Anna) Lawton and sister Linda (Marshall) Walker. Predeceased by sister Irene (Jack) MacDonald.
Shirley attended both public and high school in Kincardine and in 1971 she and Douglas were married. Shirley worked in an orphanage in Toronto for 3 years, was a private nanny, helped Douglas with their dairy farm and also worked in the Ripley Library for 25 years. She loved travelling, cooking, baking, sewing and reading. But above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Following Shirley’s wishes cremation has taken place and private arrangements have been entrusted to the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley. |
